 BOARD EVALUATION 


Your Board has been appointed to set the strategy for your organisation and to actively manage its performance and risk.  Today, Boards and Directors are coming under increasing scrutiny, not only for the performance of the organisation they serve, but also, in relation to meeting legal, social and environmental challenges. 


Boards need to be able to respond to challenges, by creating strategic opportunities for their organisations and their customers. Meeting these challenges, is a key characteristic of an effective Board, which can help to create competitive advantage for your business. 


In order to help your Board recognise its strengths and weaknesses and position it to lead your business to success, we have developed our Board Evaluation Service.  It works like this:


  • We will  tailor our evaluation to your objectives and agree our approach with you at the beginning of the project.


  • We will recognise your organisation’s purposes and priorities, whether these are profit and shareholder value, social enterprise, community objectives, or a combination of these.


  • Our evaluation will provide a comprehensive, cost effective, assessment and review of your Board at a single point in time, tailored to focus on your Boards specific priorities.


  • We will look at the structure of your organisation to see where your Board fits and we will look at the quality of the information that is commonly provided to your Board.


  • Each review will use The Board Revolution questionnaire which provides us with the core information we need to review your Board. 


  • We will interview your Board Members and if requested as part of the evaluation we can attend one or more of your Board Meetings.


  • We can identify variations in perceptions of individual Board members.


  • We will provide you with a detailed written report presenting our findings and present our findings in person at a presentation.


  • The breadth of our approach, which is tailored to your needs, delivers a comprehensive overview of your Board and can cover the following: its purpose, structure, decision making, leadership, aptitude, culture, integrity, diversity, accountability, openness and effectiveness. 


The aim is to provide an informed external view of your Board, which should  provide a springboard for increasing your Board's effectiveness. Our work will match your Board to your organisation at any stage in its life cycle and prepare it for scalability. We will recognise existing strengths and suggest any required or preferred improvements to your Board.


Our written report and presentation will act as a catalyst for development, change and improved effectiveness for your Board.


We will also give you the opportunity to activate a regular annual review which will enable you to track your Board’s progress.




 

 MENTORING AND COACHING 


We can provide mentoring or coaching to Key Individuals in your business, to any of your Directors and to you or other Business Leaders in your organisation. John focuses on mentoring and Ian focuses on coaching.


Our Mentoring Service 


This involves us acting as your experienced sounding board and trusted adviser. Our mentoring service is more developmental driven than performance driven and takes a more holistic approach and is more informal. The mentee sets the agenda and is more likely to question the mentor with a view to tapping into the mentor's experience. There is less of an emphasis on specific measurable results or changed behaviour and more emphasis on the development of the mentee.


Our Coaching Service


Coaching is an opportunity for high-achieving individuals to accelerate their growth, learning and effectiveness. The relationship is more likely to be shorter term with a specific outcome in mind. Our coaching service is therefore more performance driven and more structured.  We ask thought provoking questions which are aimed at helping the individual to make important decisions, recognise behaviours and take action.


Coaching works particularly well in situations where someone has identified a need, for example:


  • specific projects – getting started on a major project or upcoming event
  • promotion – getting to grips with a new role or responsibility
  • leadership skills – tackling individual or team performance



 

 PROFESSIONAL FIRM CONSULTING 


This service taps directly into our expertise and past experience of purchasing, delivering and selling legal services over many years. Having worked in-house for a wide range of organisations across many industry sectors we are in a strong position to advise law firms and other professional firms on how to position your firm in order to connect with prospective clients and how to maintain and build your relationships with existing clients.


Our consulting covers two broad areas:


1. External and Client Facing Techniques and Strategies
